hot wax is better than cold wax anyday, but even in hot wax, if you use a concoction that has more than 50% wax, it works out miserably. use something that is sugar based..

your wax should be very thin on heating, an easy to spread.

the most important thing is..the more chances your traces of wax has, of getting removed with plain water, the better it is.

if you have to use an organic solvent to remove the stubborn wax traces, that means your wax wont do as good a job as the wax which gets removed more easily with plain simple water, as far as hair removal is concerned.

Snä Epil (pronounced snay) is good

but it's a german product...

A good tip is to see if the wax is edible (should be written on the packaging) otherwise it's got other crap in it that hinders the waxing and leaves weird films on your legs. Nair and Veet are the worst waxes I've ever used.

Apart from that you can make your own wax. Lots of Sugar, water, a squeeze of lemon, cook it till the stuff thickens, put a knife or spoon in FLAT to the surface, pull up wards, there should be a "string" between the wax and the metal, it's not yet ready, a few minutes later, do it again, there should be TWO "strings", now it's ready. Cool it a few mins, pour into a tin can, now it's ready for use. You can use it over and over, just be sure to close the lid when done, otherwise the ants will get it. Also, I normally transfer some from the main jar into a different one to heat just for that wax session. Good luck. I buy snä coz it's easier than making my own ;)

I never epilated my legs in a different way than waxing. I think waxing is the easiest way and it gives the best result. It makes your skin so smooth too. And I never had bruises or something cause it never really hurts. But if you have never done waxing before I suggest you go to a saloon to see how it is done or ask for a friend to help you for the first time. Cause it is better if you see how you are supposed to use wax etc. Especially if you are gonna use hot wax you have to be careful not to get burnt. I use Veet's cold wax wipes. They are easy to use and gives a perfect result. Good luck and believe me you will not regret waxing after you see your skin that beautiful for that long time.

I'm 56 yrs, old, and the best product for waxing that I've come across has been "Silk n Smooth" by Avon. It's a cream, goes on well (doesn't take the whole tube!!!), wait about 6 minutes, and you're done. It's far better than Nair, Aveeta, or any other brand out there. I was amazed - honest!

WHY? That stuff is expenxive and it hurts a whole lot! It doesn't last any longer than shaving and it is a lot more trtrouble!

In the winter time shave your legs and underarms on the same day of the week every week and in the summer twice a week. Us a good moisturizer afterwards without drying yourself off. Leave the water on your skin and put the moisturizeron and rub it completely in. Your skin will thankyou for it and you won't get those wax oweee hurts either!

Spend the money and have it done! I have used several over the counter waxing systems and they are not as good! One of them left me bruised and bleeding!!!

If this is not enough to change your mind then the only hint that I can give is USE BABY POWDER over the area you are waxing before applying the wax. It makes it easier for the paper/material to attach itself to the hair and the wax.

It also leaves your skin less irratated. Use an aloe lotion or oil after waxing to cool the irratated skin.

I hope this is helpful!

The Paste prepared from Jaggery, sugar and Lemon is a good waxing agent. It Helps to remove even the dead skin and the hair from root so that the hair will not grow with in short time of 2 or 3 days.Even the skin becomes soft.

The first time definitely go to a salon. They will do a really nice job and you can see if waxing is right for you. They can suggest to you a do-it at home product. I don't wax at home because it is difficult to do safely and well.

Don't use nads if you have a big area to wax like your legs because it really doesn't work. Nads is best on eyebrows and that sort of thing but not really worth buying more than once. I had to grow out the hair on my legs for weeks just to get any kind of result and then ended up shaving them anyway. Who has time for that?

Although the long term option to unwanted hair removal should be an alternative, waxing is fairly medium term.

Aside from it being messy, time consuming and painful, it also leads to ingrown hair. But then i guess you already know all of that. I still htough i should mention it as your question states : "Wanting to start to wax my legs?" so i'm assuming you're a "newbie" of sorts. Good Luck anyway.

Avon has this product on their website I forget whats its called but it works pretty good. Its a kit it come with a jar of wax and strips. You have to microwave the wax for a minute and you should be set to go.

Honey. It's cheap and easy to use. It's been around since Egyptian times, and soothes any irritation or stinging. You want the hair to be 1/4" long, and make sure the skin is clean, dry and oil free. Honey is also a natural moisturizer.

It is sticky, so you will need to wash your legs afterwards. Just warm the honey up in the microwave until it is easily spreadable, but not too hot for the skin. I recommend using one of the squeeze bottles to dispense it easily. Spread it on your legs with a spatula so you don't get your hands all sticky, working in small patches. Place a strip of linen cloth over the area, pull the skin tight and pull the strip off in the opposite direction of growth quickly.

Follow up with a moisturizer after washing the area to seal in moisture.

I've heard nad's is some pretty good stuff. Just a warning-don't use nair. I tried waxing my legs with that stuff and not only did it pull the hair off my legs, it pulled some of my skin off too. I bled like crazy. It was so painful.

I use the Sally Hanson Strips. They are easier than dipping the junk out of the tub, you just rub them together, peel apart, apply, and Riiiiiip. Hair free.

Of course there is pain, but the kit comes with a lovely bottle of stuff to ease the pain and loosen left over wax.

uhh that hurts, there is laser technology nowadays! until you save money for this, a cream/lotion hair removal is the best. The cream leaves your legs soft and nice. Go to your local pharmacy and read the product's labels and decide for one that is the best for you. Some products work better for some people than others, so try one and then next time try another one until you find the one that you like.

sugar & water. coz it makes home made wax product. there isn't any side effects. just boil the water with sugar & when it gets thick apply it on your skin & cover it with a strong piece of cloth then after sm momments pull the cloth off in the opposite directon on your body hair. after that clean it and apply some mosturiser lotion on the skin.
