I don't know any ayurvedic methods....the only Indian method that relates to beauty is threading.

But there is are easy ways to remove blackheads - pore strips, blackhead removal tools & lemon juice.

Pore strips you can buy at drug stores for like 3 bucks. It's just a sticker-like thing you place over your nose and rip off later. I don't recommend this, since it doesn't really work that well for me...the shallow blackheads get sucked out onto the strip though. Overall, it's fast and cheap, but not that good.

Blackhead removers can get ANYTHING out. It's better to go to a spa or whatever to get it professionally done though. But if you want to do it yourself, buy one at Sephora. Sterilize it (steam it, put alcohol on it, etc) and just place the loop over your nose and press gently. The black stuff should squeeze right out. After you finish, cleanse and seal with cold water. Then rub on toner.

My favorite method is an easy and natural one - lemon juice. Squeeze fresh lemon juice and apply with a cotton bud or whatever on those blackheads. If you have sensitive skin, it'll probably burn. My skin's pretty tough (after all the product abuse), but it still hurt the first time. The second time it wasn't so painful. Anyway, just apply it and leave it on overnight. Because lemon's so acidic, most of your deep blackheads should be cleaned out. If your skin is ULTRA sensitive, and your nose goes red or whatever, wipe it off. Lemon juice is great, but not for everyone.

Blackhead Removal

Though the best way to remove blackheads is an area of contention, the most common method for getting rid of blackheads is to gently squeeze them. Removing the "stuff" inside of the blackhead helps the skin because you are relieving the pressure which causes the damage. We know it can be nearly impossible to leave a blemish alone so here are some tips for gentle blackhead removal:

1. Use a mild scrub or skin exfoliant to remove any dead cells and expose the blackhead.

2. Pat your face dry.

3. Place a slightly warm compress on your face for approximately 10-15 minutes in order to soften the blackhead, making it easier to remove.

4. Pat your face dry again.

5. Place a piece of tissue on the tip of each finger to avoid slipping, which could tear the skin and cause further damage.

6. Gently apply even pressure to both sides of the blackhead by pushing down, then up around the blemish. You're trying to apply the pressure from *underneath* the blackhead.

Only attempt this once or twice. If it does not "pop", you may bruise the skin, make the blackhead worse, and could cause scarring.

PORE STRIPS: Using pore strips to remove blackheads is not recommended for many reasons:

• The warnings on the box tell you not to use them on swollen, irritated, sunburned skin; not to use them on excessively dry skin; and not to use them on any area other than the nose. Also, the warnings state that if the strip is too difficult to remove, you should add water and remove carefully.

• Removing the superficial blackheads, along with some healthy skin, will only help temporarily.

• Repeated use of pore strips can cause irritation and future breakouts.

• The adhesive on the strips can tear or injure the skin, especially if you are using an acne medication such as those listed above, or if you naturally have thin skin due to psoriasis, rosacea, or seborrhea.

Vacuum blackhead removers and blackhead extractors are not recommended for the same reasons as the pore strips. Because blacheads are caused by excessive oil production clogging the pores, the most effective way to get rid of blackheads is to control oil on the face by using mild cleansers and by balancing your hormones.

Some of readers suggest Acnezine Blackhead removal.

I have suffered from blackheads on the nose for years, but recently I was instructed to buy a cleaning scrub with Salicylic Acid in it and it works. I personally use Kiehl's Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser everyday in the shower with a Buff Puff (found at any CVS or Walgreens). I also use Kiehl's Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro-Dermabrasion once a week prior to showering and the blackheads are gone. You can probably find Kiehl's products in the mall or on-line. Good luck and I hope this helps.

A steam bath for your face works really well. Run some hot water into your bathroom sink, then bend your face into the steam vapors and drape and towel over your head....creating a "steam tent". Do that for about 5-10 mins, then gently squeeze your nose... the blackheads should just come right out. Rinse your face in cool/cold water to help close your pores, and use a toner specifically made for blackheads to help keep the area clean.

alright.

now i know that this method sounds wierd, and too good to be true.

but honestly, IT WORKS!

Apply a small layer of Elmers Non-toxic white school glue to your nose. Let it dry and peel off. Rinse off the excess with warm water and then wash your face and apply a toner to cleanse your pores, now that they're open.

Trust me, it works!
