Are exfoliators & scrubs the best way to get rid of dry patches on face?

I have dry patches on my cheeks and have tried getting rid of them by extreme exfoliation (using an facial exfoliating scrub every morning) which usually works to get rid of the patches, but in time that ends up drying my WHOLE face out. I put on my moisturiser and foundation & blush in the mornings and it looks fine but within an hour or so, the foundation/blush has gathered around the dry patches and makes my face look even worse.

Can anyone help me find a solution to this?
Whether its exfoliating daily with a more gentle wash or scrub, or anything else you know of.

Also... is it best to wash with a cleansing lotion every morning? Is excessive scrubbing and exfoliating really bad for skin?

Thanx =D

Excessive scrubbing and exfoliating is bad for the skin.

Using a mild face wash and scrub would be better for your

skin. Try using aveeno daily moisturizing lotion and see

if it helps. The best thing to do is to go to a doctor and

receive the correct treatment for your face.

You are over exfoliating. Only exfoliate the dry area instead of all over you face, and use a gentle exfoliator not a scrub. Try to only exfoliate twice a week, and only use lukewarm water! Hot water will dry out your skin more. I know this can suck, but try to go as often as you can without the foundation and blush, give your skin a chance to heal. If the problem persists, see a dermatologist.

Too much exfoliation and scrubbing is bad for your skin as it will dry it out a lot, so only use it once or twice a week, and not too hard. The body shop does a amazing vitamin e moisturiser which i use and is really really good. Use a really rich cream at night and use a gentle face wash, non-scented and you could try for foundation ones that are moisturisers with a bit of foundation,the tinted moisturises, i think olay and the body shop do them! :)

These are the body shop products, you could try these or ones similar, this is the moisturiser,

this is the night cream,

and the foundation,

First! wash ur skin with plain , cool water and moisturize it gently with a cream.. Then dampen ur face using water again ,taking a little amount of face scrub very gently massage it on ur skin in circular motions and dint let the skin appear red .. Rinse well again .. pat dry with a soft baby towel (dont rub the skin).. apply a gentle moisturizer and use rose water too .. ( use a rose water by dipping /soaking cotton wool in chilled rose water & wiping it on ur face twice daily).. All the best :)

try making your own scrub out of olive oil & sugar, rub very gently over your face, then clean with a very gentle cleanser. only exfoliate once a week, otherwise you are just damaging your new skin, which will make the patches worse.
