When can I change my tongue piercing? And can I do it myself?

I got my tongue pierced 2 weeks ago, and it healed within the first week. When can I change it &&; can I use both plastic and metal barbells ?

Your tongue isn't healed it only looks like it and the pains have most likely subsided from the outside it looks like it has healed but from the inside the muscle and tissue hasn't healed



Changing too early wont let tissue to heal>causes scarring&bruising



Also its huge risk of letting bacteria to enter fresh wound and your body's reaction is to close your pierced area on its own



earliest and safest change:

middle-end of 4th week



its a 50/50 chance of your body rejecting the plastic so try it out and if it starts to hurt or swell remove it immediately
