Initial jewelry: Curved barbells in 14 to 10 gauge and 3/8" to 1/2" in

length; the barbell should be 1/8" wider than the width of the piercing when the piercee reclines. A barbell which is too short will constrict the

piercing and restrict blood circulation. Captive bead rings in 14 to 10 gauge and 3/8? to 1/2" in diameter. No more than 1/3 of the ring should be through the piercing. A ring which is too small in diameter will constrict the piercing and cause the piercing to scar or migrate. Teardrop and

oval-shaped rings designed specifically for navel piercings may be worn but do not provide the same comforts. The same obtrusive ring is desired, but they

benefits as curved barbells.

What do you mean by size?

You don't want to large or small gauge jewelry...let the piercer decide what's best and remember the gauge he uses. It's normally 14g or 16g.

size like gauge?

Most are pierced in 14 gauge, unless you ask to get pierced otherwise. If you are unsure of what gauge yours is talk to a piercer.

Yes, it does. Most navels are piercings in 14ga. But if you're not sure, ask your piercer.

Gauges (ga) work in reverse order. For example, 16ga is smaller than 14ga. 14ga is small than 12ga. Etc.
