well its not good,
since you pierced it yourself and im guessing your not a professional piercer.
calm down about your infecting part, if you keep it clean and never tone it only when you cleaning it, it shouldnt get infected and it should heal fine.
the needles they use at a tattoo shop are MUCh better then the ones they use at claires, they use NEEDLES instead of a gun, which traumatizes the skin and makes the healing proccess hard. but, if your talking about the ring itself, theres really no difference between the rings at claires and at a tattoo shop, both sterile and clean.

My sister has her belly button pierced and uses claire's rings. claire's provides cleaning kit for a belly button piercing. i havn't heard her complain of any problems and she's had her piercing for 1-2 years.
My mom, however, got a belly button piercing at a tatoo shop. i think they also provided her with a cleaning kit. BUT it depends on the quality of the tatoo shop. if you get it at a low-quality tatoo shop, im guessing they will most likely not care for that and just want money lol.
i never got a belly button piercing, but i did get my ears pierced at claires and they gave me a cleaning kit thingy. if you ask for it, then you will be protected from infections
hope this helped :)

itsa a 50/50 chance of getting infected. people do it all the time. just clean it alot & if it gets pussy & bloody & red/hard/swollen..take it out cuz its infectedd.

as long as its sergical steel and not a plastic one it will be fine as long as you clean it and stuff well like you would either way. even most pofesh ones get infected alot .
