Question:
The toothpaste freaking BURNED my face!! Should I use neosporin?

To elaborate... I was an idiot and put dabs of toothpaste onto my pimples, and left it like that overnight. Yes, feel free to bash me out- I know I'm a retard and all that.

The thing is, though, that in the morning, this LARGE brown spot BURNED my skin in this spot next to my nose on the right. I have brown skin, but it's a fairly light brown, so this dark burnt shade really stands out. I've been telling everyone it's a bruise.

I found this tube of Neosporin ointment in my house and I read on here that it was a surefire way to cure the burn. Should I use it? Because lots of people on here said it would work... but then again, they said toothpaste would work too, and look what happened.

PS. If you don't recommend the Neosporin, can you tell me how long this brown spot will stay here? It doesn't really cause any irritation, and doesn't itch or burn or anything like that. However, when I smile I can sort of feel it there.

Snap!! I did the toothpaste thingy 2 days in a row, on my face and back ^-^!! At first the worst 2 spots became sore and turned into white-heads, but now they're just small (I have pale pale skin so I don't know if they looked like your description or not). I also put Sweet Almond Oil on them and it soothed them and helped the spots go away. I don't know what Neosporin is, but I say don't use it because it sounds harsh from the name and word Ointment. I say go and buy some Sweet Almond skin and body oil (they're at any health shop really,,, like Holland and Barret. Look in the aroma therapy/massage section, and it's the base oil version) and put that on over night and in the morning--it's soothing, it's natural and feels really nice ^-^!!

I am not a chemist, but I would think the word "toothpaste" would be a big hint. I know people try odd stuff to get rid of pimples. I still get them and I am nearly 50.

Neosporin is great for skin, and so is aloe gel. I am guessing you may be a teenager so try not to be offended by my advice. It does work.

Try to get 8 hours of sleep every night. Cut out excess sugars - sodas, candy, chocolate, ice cream, etc., and caffeine, too. Caffeine keeps your body from absorbing all the minerals and nutrients from any good foods you do eat. Drink lots of liquids to stay hydrated, it doesn't have to be just water. Lots of water will purify your blood and rid your system of many impurities.

I washed my face each morning and evening separate from a shower or bath. Using regular soap and water is enough, unless your condition worsens. Not all over the counter medications are for everyone.

Try to reduce stress in your life. That's a big factor when you are young.

Your skin is completely renewed in 30 days as often as it exfoilates.

People are probably gonna think I'm very stupid but this is what works for me. So, I did this a few months ago because I'm not the smartest. Keep that in mind. Acne is caused by bacteria growing in and under your skin right? So I absolutely thought that if Hand Sanitizer killed bacteria, why can't it kill it on my face? Andddd that lead to me putting some small amounts of hand sanitizer in my T-zone and other practical places.I do this about 2-3 times a day and that works really great for me. No more acne.

Another thing I do is, if I'm in a melt-down situation, I grab a piece of ice and rub that all over the acne for 1-2 minutes. (Or until it's completely melted.)

I also use this Carrot exfoliating face wash with beads in it. It smells weird to me but great to others. And leaves your face really soft.

Yes.....very stupid tricks but hey....it works for me

Okay, don't panic! Since it has to with skin, talk to your parents and visit a dermatologist. They can prescribe you something so that the burn can be treated. Also visit a regular doctor if the dermatologist can't help you. You might also want to invest in some concealer and see if that works. I am not the expert on concealer when it comes to makeup so you can post a separate question to see if anyone else knows. You can also ask your friends for advice! Hope this helps, Sarah

Moisturize it every hour then when u get ready tomorrow wash ur face n use the towel to remove the dead skin! I did that in high school but it was a huge surface! It was embarrassing

Epiduo left terrible chemical burns on my face, cold water even burned. The only relief I had was petroleum jelly with cocoa butter. I applied it thick on my face and in a week I was better

Ik don't worry I did that too. It was freaking dumb of me to do. And yeah either put neosporin or pure aloe vera gel on it and it going to scab over and it'll take of by itself. Better if u used aloe vera or something since that doesn't clog pores

use hydrocortisone cream for the burn...Neosporin is an antibiotic so it fights infection, might help a little also but the hydrocotisone will decrease the inflammation

Use hydrocortisone, all these people saying they did the same thing, so did i but it helped and the spot was gone? Strange...
