I have a phobia of spiders (arachnophobia) and a weird wrist problem that I believe is the only one that might have it. I don't like it when my wrists are touched or grabbed. More in the sense I don't like it when something pushes on the soft inside part of my wrist. Does anyone else have a problem like this or can anyone HELP me!!!

I think a lot of people have little quirks like this, especially when they're young. I had some odd things that I barely remember, but when I do, it reminds me of the show Monk. I had this one thing where I felt like my hands were dirty even if they were clean, and I'd try to wipe whatever it was off, like it was some kind of invisible matter. Then when I touched things, I had to do it an even amount of times. I had other things, too, but I didn't worry about them and they eventually went away. dot ....dot ....dot...lol

Well... I may be able to give you my take on this. I personally used to suffer from SEVERE arachnophobia, but of the late, I have actually begun to overcome this problem. This is mostly because I have gained some knowledge on how to identify the deadly and poisionous varieties of spiders and their habitats. Which often are as far away from us as possible. Do some personal research, the information you find should very well set your mind at ease about some of the common harmless spiders that could be scaring you witless for no reason. Not that I don't still get the willies when I encounter a spider, but I surely do not "freak out", which is what I used to do. I found out that this is actually the worst thing to do, because they stand more of a chance of biting you if you spaz and are even more apt to bite you if you squish them or trap them. As I suggested before, do some reading on spiders, the local library is obviously the best place to go, once you get a grip on your fear, you'll have less difficulty dealing with it. In fact i actually like the little fuzzy black jumpy ones with all the eyes. They're cute, harmless and scared to death of me. So, as long as I just relax and let them jump away, it's all good.

As for your sensitivity with your wrists, well... that just seems personal... maybe some sort of bad experience buried in your subconcious is eating away at you and you don't realize it until someone grabs your wrists... but that is just my unprofessional "psychoanylitical" though on your sensitivity. I would say embrace it, maybe work to make yourself stronger with it... Take some self-defense courses, like karate or something, so that the next time someone makes you uncomfortable you can return the favor.

I can't stand anyone coming close to my eyes. My opthamologist finds this funny. I entertain him once a year. I can touch my own eyes, but anyone wanting to put in drops or looking at them with an instrument makes me start to hyperventalate.

I also can not go into a bathroom with a shower curtain is closed. I have to open it. The reason is really stupid but it's suck since I was 5. I know it's irrational, but I still have a weird feeling.....KISS is behind the curtain. It started after I watched KISS and the Phantom of the Amusement Park in the 70's. I'm such a geek!

I used to have a really bad phobia about being followed, but it's not too bad now. The years of meds and psychotherapy have definitely helped. I feel nervous on escalators, but not elevators, which is loopy to me, because one time I got locked in an elevator during a fire for over two hours. But escalators make my heart race every time I get on them.

I used to have horrible social phobia, and I read a book Dying of Embarrassment that helped a lot. It had a lot of activities called exposure therapy where you immerse yourself more and more in the situations that make you phobic until they don't bother you as much because you're desensitized to them. It helped a lot. I used to flip out when I drove until I had a minor fender-bender and then I wasn't so scared. I don't advocate wrecking cars to get over phobias, but you kinda see what I mean--doing something that freaks you out can show you that it's not so bad and you can get over it. But if phobias really plague you, definitely get some help. Books, support groups, therapy, meds--don't let phobias paralyze you because it's not fair to go through life with fears that are disabling to you.

I cannot sleep with any part of my body off the bed or out from underneath the covers. I am deathly afraid of snakes. I dont like being in the dark because i had a dream one time that i woke up and went to get out of my bed and there was like a stalker standing at the end of it. It was a man and my aunt had previous experiences where this actually happened to her. I also do not like it when people grab my neck, i will freak out.. i guess its kinda like im chlostrephobic.

I have a fear of heights, and any type of bug. I wouldn't say I had a phobia of someone grabbing my wrist, but to dislike it is not an abnormal reaction. I think that is a perfectly normal way to feel.

Agoraphobic here. Haven't left my home and gone outside since 1999.

Do a Google search on your particular phobia and you will find find others who have the same problem. If you are looking for relief those would be the people who would have best ideas on how to cope.

Monkeys...I hate monkeys. I also don't like bugs...especially spiders and roaches...oh and scorpions too!! My worst physical reaction to a fear is getting my blood drawn...I freak out and have panic attacks. I also don't like swimming in water that I can't see the bottom...oceans really scare me. I also can't touch my eyes or have them touched. Oh and I hate someone touching my belly bottom. Ok, I'm done...enough phobias.

I'm pretty fearless, BUT I do have a weird phobia of large statues. Not like total freak-outs, but they definitely send a chill up my spine..ie-Lincoln Memorial, Statue of Liberty. Weird, huh?

I hate snakes, and for some reason am deathly afraid of the ocean. Not the lake, but ocean. It just freaks me out that there's a whole other world under there, and that people that get lost stay lost.......it just freaks me out.

I can't sleep with my hands or feet off the side of the bed. I don't like it when someone touches me under my chin. (like the way a parent does to a child)

Oh I'm definitely arachnophobic.

What really creeps me out, though, is imagining spiders crawling anywhere on my bare skin.
